Why Entry Level Employees Offer So Much Promise

All the signs show that the SEO industry is in a state of growth. As everyone develops their online brand, everyone needs SEO experts who can assist them. To fill the gap, agencies around the nation should look to entry level marketers. Most entry level marketers come from a college or university, but what makes them a good candidate?

Joey Armstrong says SEO knowledge can be taught on the job. However, certain personality traits are either possessed by an individual or they are not. For instance, someone won’t be able to improve their SEO knowledge without a genuine sense of curiosity. The mentorship stage at an agency often ends long before a hire would like. There are many clients to help, and a lot of training will need to happen on the job or off-hours. The best entry level employees are curious enough to follow up on gaining certifications afterhours in order to advance their skills and enhance their careers.

People who like to write will often make the best SEO professional candidates. Digital marketing will always reward marketers who are able to get their point across as succinctly and clearly as possible. They will also need to be able to craft headlines that garner attention. This can’t be done without some strong writing skills.

Other human skills that matter are a positive attitude and a natural inclination to lead. So much of strong SEO work comes down to effort. There will be times where the results don’t come quickly, and it will be easy to grow pessimistic. The best employees look at failure as an opportunity to learn. Not everybody has these personality traits. A lot of the interviews for entry level positions should focus more on getting a sense for personality type than actual marketing experience. Most entry level college graduates will have similar backgrounds. What can separate them is their ability to show their personality and how they are able to explain their mindset. An interviewer like Joey Armstrong wants to hear about how motivated the individual is to succeed and move up the ranks within their industry.

Every entry level hire is a bit of a lottery ticket. It’s possible that it won’t work out, but it’s also possible that the entry level hire can bring thoughts regarding recent digital marketing trends and allow companies to market their brands more successfully with a younger audience. Everyone has different marketing perspectives and entry level employees are no different.
